Session 2 - Seamen
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 9am-Noon
Seamen (8 to 9 year old beginners)
Seamen learn the basics of sailing and spend most of their time in Optimist dinghies. After an initial instruction period, they sail around the inner bay with a friend in an Optimist or with an instructor in a Fast Cat. The goal is to become comfortable in optis, and hopefully sail alone by the end of the session! Seamen learn sailing terminology, seamanship, both helming and crewing, rigging, docking, basic right of way rules, knots, the fundamentals of navigation and on-water safety.
