Optimist Race Team

(11 to 13 year old racers 8 week commitment required)

The Optimist Team is a group of sailors who want to practice their racing skills and compete in Optimist dinghies. Team members travel together to regattas at other clubs and help host the Wianno Opti Regatta. During practice time, Optimist racers practice starting techniques, racing tactics, boat speed, tuning the boat for various wind conditions, roll tacks and some introductory team racing. Daily attendance at practice is expected. Each sailor must commit to attending seven regattas during the summer. Sailors must be sailing in the Championship fleet at all regattas. If sailors are intending to sail in the Green Fleet" please register him/her for the Jr. Opti. Race Team. Event Costs will be discussed prior to each event.
